To accuse this disgraceful organisation of being thoughtless seems almost tautological.

The statement from the religious orders yesterday was a disgrace.

They need to be hounded out of this country.

Just off the RTE website, it wasn't actually a spokesperson from CORI, it was the Director General of the organisation.
They seemingly have no clue of how the mind works.
None whatsoever!

I read the executive summary of this report over the last few days, and I can tell you it makes for some dismal reading.
I also heard the spokesperson of CORI on RTE's Morning Ireland saying the religious orders would like to deal with the victims "directly". I'm not sure that the victims would like to deal with them "directly".
The state should do as was done in Canada: give the victims of child abuse the chance to move on with their own lives, and let the state deal with the religious orders on their behalf. You'll note that some of the religious orders in Ireland are no longer in Canada. They were sent into liquidation because of the amount of money they had to contribute.
All our thoughts are with the victims.
